the light installations by sophie valla architects under the flat roofing are the outstanding feature of the remodeled structures. sixty textile panels made from the fabrics used in advertising were cut to various sizes to meet the dimensions of the existing structure; forming an LED-like screen that can be programed independently. the textiles were combined with colorful spotlights in a giant puzzle, creating a 10m x 40m artificial sky. dynamic light animations lasting 30 minutes mimic shifting cloudy dutch skies, where twenty fluctuating skies re-create scenarios of bright and stormy days from sunrise to sunset. like a sophisticated carpet sitting on a lawn, concrete slabs laid out in an attractive pattern outline a conspicuously stylish urban spot in the grassy field of the park.
These captures are part of one their books entitled “Dinka”, featuring an ethnic group that inhabits the Bahr el Ghazal region of the Nile basin.
“Dinka of Southern Sudan are one of the most outstanding groups of pastoralists on the African continent. Covered with ash and up to 7ft 6in tall, the Dinka were referred to as gentle giants by the early explorers. Living in perfect harmony with their cattle, they believe their animals are their essential link to God.”

Tepoztlan Lounge rises in this idyllic landscape, between myth and reality. It’s the first of a series of bungalows of different size and style, designed by studio Cadaval & Solà-Morales. With an open space immersed in greenery, where the boundaries between interiors and exteriors blur in favor of direct contact with uncontaminated nature.
New York city based designer Jay Shells uses quotes from rap and hip hop as very amusing, very interesting street signs for NYC. He has put up more than 30 street signs so far, most of them placed at locations appropriate or connected to the quote.
